Refuse, Recycling, & Yard Waste
Garbage and Recycling Pickup:
The Village of Twin Lakes contracts with Groot Industries for garbage pickup and curbside recycling. Please ensure garbage and recycling bins are placed out by 6:00 a.m. Recycling is collected every other week. For new construction, contact Village Hall once closing is complete to set up new service.
Pickup Routes:
– TUESDAY: East side of Village
– WEDNESDAY: West side of Village

Electronic Waste:
Electronic waste, including computers and their parts, as well as televisions, VCRs, CD/DVD players, FAX machines, telephones, and cell phones, is banned from the landfill. Residents can dispose of electronic waste at the Recycling Center, located at the Public Works Facility, 800 Burlington Ave, twice a year, on the first Saturday in May and the first Saturday in September.
Lake Weeds – Seaweed Pickup:
Pickup occurs on Thursdays from Memorial Day through the last Thursday in September.
Yard Waste Disposal Guidelines:
- Available from April 1st until the last weekend in November (subject to weather conditions).
- Residents must obtain a sticker from Village Hall or at the yard waste center during operational hours to utilize the yard waste disposal service.
- Drop off grass clippings, leaves, and brush measuring under 6” in diameter at the Twin Lakes Recycling Center during the following hours:
Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.,
Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to noon, and
Sundays from 7:00 a.m. to noon.
- The Yard Waste Recycling Center is located at the Public Works facility, 800 Burlington Avenue.
- For disposal outside of operating hours, contact Production Unlimited Holsteins at 279-3472 or 877-3092 for directions, or Les Skinner at 877-2769, 1250 Lance Dr. Cost is $1.00 per bag.
Burning:
Refer to the Burning Regulations for guidelines on burning. Burning is discouraged by the Village of Twin Lakes and the Department of Natural Resources but may be used as an alternative. Fires for the purpose of burning leaves and plant clippings, not including wood, are allowed only on private property between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm from September 1 through May 31. Burning is prohibited in ditches or drainage ways, on pavement, or in barrels.
