On September 15th, 2013 the Twin Lakes Village Board approved Ordinance 2013-9-1 creating the Property Maintenance Ordinance setting standards for maintaining private property.  The new ordinance can be found here.

Property & Nuisance Inspections

The purpose of the Code Enforcement Officer is to assure compliance with adopted Village Ordinances, ensuring residents of  Twin Lakes a safe environment while also maintaining property values. Properties ranging from commercial buildings to apartment complexes and single family residences are inspected. Unless permission is given; only exteriors of properties are inspected. The department takes complaints from residents and also actively looks for violations while out on the streets. The Village desires to work closely with all residents and business owners to correct any properties not in compliance with Village Ordinances. I am available to discuss any problems you may have in correcting infractions. Through a cooperative effort between you and the inspector, quality of life for all residents can be maintained.

Some of the things we look at:

  • Grass/Weeds
  • Vehicle storage
  • Parkway obstructions
  • Work without permits
  • Improper storage
  • Exterior surfaces
  • Sanitation

When a violation is observed, it will be noted and a letter will be sent advising the owner of the deficiency and a time frame to achieve compliance.
